- Prompt
- The instruction or information you give an AI system. A clear prompt describes the task, audience, source material, boundaries, and output format.
- Generative AI
- Software that produces content such as text or images from patterns learned during training and the context it receives. A confident response can still contain errors.
- Hallucination
- A common term for an AI output that presents unsupported or incorrect information as if it were true.
- Human review
- A person checks the output against the source and intended use before approving it. Review is a step in the workflow, not a guarantee that every error will be found.
- GEO and AEO
- Terms used for work aimed at visibility in generative AI or answer systems. Neither describes a guaranteed route to being cited.
- Structured data
- Machine-readable labels for information on a page. Markup should accurately describe visible content and should not invent facts.
- llms.txt
- A proposed Markdown file for describing website content. CheckMyDSO does not score its presence or claim it improves AI citations.
- Single opt-in
- A signup process in which a person is added to a list as soon as they sign up and agree. The CheckMyDSO newsletter uses single opt-in with a consent box you tick.
- Double opt-in
- A signup process in which a person must also click a link in a confirmation email before being added to a list.
- Sponsorship
- A paid promotional placement. On CheckMyDSO, sponsor messages are labeled and separated from editorial content.
